Ohanaeze to build wealth creation centre in Lagos

The Lagos State Chapter of the Ohanaeze Ndigbo, under the leadership of Chief Sunday Ossai, has concluded a plan to build Wealth Creation Centre in the state in a bid to create wealth and promote entrepreneurship among the youth.

Speaking on the project at Igbo Cultural Celebration held recently in Lagos, the Chairman of the Planning Committee for the event, Prince Ubochi C. Ubochi, the Owelle Ndigbo in Eti-Osa, Lagos State, said the purpose of the centre is to create wealth and reduce poverty among Igbo youths and others.

He stated that the centre will train and equip Nigerian youths with skills that will enable them to be self-reliant and employable.

According to Ubochi, who is also the Traditional Prime Minister of Amaifeke, Imo State, the centre, in the course of carrying out its activities, takes young people off the streets and in the process reduces crime and criminality in the state.

Apart from reducing crime, he said the centre will create job opportunities and create wealth in society.

He stated that the centre will also train young people to understand Igbo culture and language, stressing that it is important to preserve Igbo culture and language among young people.

He disclosed that some people have already donated to the course of building the centre and called on men and women of goodwill to do the same. He called on corporate organizations to contribute to the realization of the project, adding that everyone stands to benefit if there is peace in society.

He also called on state governments to donate to the building of the centre.

He said that the project will also serve as a cultural centre for the Igbo where their history and names of past leaders and heroes will be displayed, adding that the centre will also serve as a commercial hub.

Ubochi noted that Ohanaeze has secured the partnership of the Lagos State government on the project.
