10 contestants lock horns in the Bigi-sponsored Nigerian Idol to beat the knock-out stage

The top 10 contestants of Nigerian Idol Season 8, sponsored by Bigi carbonated soft drink, impressed the judges, Obi Asika, Simi, and D’Banj, as well as the audience, with their musical talents during the first live show of Season 8.

In the first live show aired on Sunday, May 28, the contestants; Constance, Precious Mac, Victory, Ose Daniel, Goodness, Abraham, Reigny, Quest, Chisom, and Henry Savy showcased their impressive musical talents, each aiming to capture the audience’s heart. Their performances served as a testament to the abundance of skills within the entertainment industry, waiting to be discovered and nurtured, much like the Bigi brand’s commitment to transforming these young singers into future superstars.

Victory’s rendition of Alicia Keys ‘Fallin’ met with applause from the judges, with Asika saying that his voice was incredible, while Simi said it was a great performance. D’banj, the renowned musical star said it was a fantastic act that shows he is worth being in the top 10.

Henry Savy, who performed after Victory, woo the judges and the audience with the song ‘You and I’ by John Legend Idol, which was quite overwhelming and highly applauded. In her comments, the elated Simi, who couldn’t hide her feelings, stated ‘I love your voice and want more,’ D’banj ‘You have all it takes to be on top,’ while Asika enthused ‘Your performance was amazing.’

Reigny’s Heaven Sent’ a song released by Keyshia was so exhilarating that the audience was carried away, following the lyrics and thrilled all through the rendition. With a show of satisfaction, Asika affirmed ‘You sang it like you own it, and from Simi ‘I enjoyed your song,’ while D’banj blew it up with a smile, ‘It is a great performance.’

With excellent acts, Chisom did Usher’s ‘U Got it Bad,’ Goodness performed Beyouces’ Halo’ and Abraham, Michael Bolton’s ‘Go the Distance’, which aroused Asika’s comment ‘You came with some power, and you delivered the song’

Quest melted hearts with Celine Dion’s ‘Coming Back to Me,’ and Asika’s thoughts about her as a good singer before she came on stage were confirmed with the wonderful performance. And after her rendition, he stated, ‘That was a tough song to sing, but you did it right.’ Simi encouraged her saying ‘Your voice was quite amazing’ while D’banj avowed ‘You have a powerful voice, l like that.’

Also captivatingly, Ose Daniel rendered ‘Make you feel my love’ by Adele; Precious Mac, Alicia Keys’ ‘No One’; and Constance who just turned 18 years of age, the youngest among the contestant performed ‘All l Ask’, produced by Adele, attracting D’banj’s response ‘You did wonderful,’ while Simi and Asika hailed her captivating act and fresh approach to the song.

All the contestants, who said they preferred the Bigi products to others, eulogized the brand for creating a platform to showcase their talents while preparing to be megastars. They attested to the unique flavour of the brand, with all stating one of the variants or the other as their favourite drink that refreshes them all the time.

In her remark, the Assistant Brand Manager, Bigi, Ms. Aransiola Biola, said the huge weight behind the show is to make it bigger and better and also to help discover and nurture young Nigerian singers for a better musical career to make the nation proud, anywhere they find themselves.

She added that Bigi has been sponsoring the show for three consecutive years, in Seasons 6,7, and 8, in a move aimed at promoting the entertainment industry.
