Ogbonnaya Onu, former Minister dies

 

Former Minister of Science and Technology Innovation, Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu has reportedly passed on.

Onu reportedly died in a private hospital in Nigeria on Thursday, April 11, 2024.

Sources from Uburu in Ohaozara Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, told Daily Sun in Abakaliki, the state capital, that the former National Chairman of the defunct All Nigeria People’s Party(ANPP) and former Abia State Governor was sick and was rushed to a private hospital in Nigeria where he died.

The sources disclosed that the deceased family was making arrangements to move him abroad after the Sallah celebration only for him to pass away.

Onu was Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation during the immediate past Muhammadu Buhari- administration.

He contested for the Presidential ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC) against President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2022 but could not secure the party’s ticket.

He was among the founders of APC which wrestled power from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in 2015.

Onu was one of the founding fathers of Ebonyi State.
