The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has suspended law admissions in eight tertiary institutions.
Fabian Benjamin, JAMB spokesman, said students will not be admitted for the law programme at the universities for 2025/2026.
He said the decision follows the suspension of the LL.B programme in these institutions by the Council of Legal Education (CLE) for the period.
The affected institutions include Kwara State University, Bingham University in Nasarawa; Redeemers University in Osun, and Western Delta University in Delta state.
Others are Taraba State University, Arthur Jarvis University in Cross River, Alex Ekwueme Federal University in Ebonyi state, and Nigerian Police Academy in Kano.
Benjamin said the suspension of the law programme at the Nigerian Police Academy will extend beyond the 2025/2026 academic session, covering the 2026/2027 session as well.

The suspension, is said to be part of CLE regulatory measures to ensure compliance with legal education standards.
As of this report, the criteria over which CLE suspended admissions to law programmes in the affected institutions is still unclear.
The CLE oversees and supervises the education of individuals aspiring for legal practice in Nigeria.
In 2023, it handed out a five-year ban on law admissions at Baze University for “serially” violating its approved intake quotas.
The regulatory body said the violation had caused a backlog of 347 law graduates awaiting admission to the Nigerian Law School (NLS).
