Olukoyede tasks youths to prioritize ethical values

The Executive Chairman of Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) Ola Olukoyede has charged youths in the country to prioritize the pursuit of ethical values in order to excel in their endeavours and emerge as worthy future leaders of the country.

He gave the charge on Wednesday, April 7, 2025, during an Integrity Club outreach programme of the Commission in Al-manar Basic Education School, Life Camp, Abuja.

Represented by the Head, Public Interface of the Public Affairs Department of the EFCC, Assistant Commander 1, Tony Orilade, Olukoyede noted that threading the path of moral rectitude would launch students and youths of the country onto the path of their desired greatness.

He urged them to be mindful of the type friends they keep, and conversations they indulge in order not to be led astray but to remain diligent in the pursuit of their careers with the hope of emerging responsible citizens.

Orilade disclosed that the essence of the visit was to encourage the students evolve a virtuous lifestyle, sound leadership qualities, crime and corruption-free personalities as the country’s future leaders.

“We are here to sensitize you against embracing anti-social behaviours. We are doing it because we would hate to see you run into trouble by reason of commission of financial crimes. We don’t want to invite you for interrogation or investigate any of you for corruption in future. As future leaders, we desire you to be leaders with honour and integrity; to be responsible and accountable,” he said.

He enjoined the students to enlist in EFCC’s Integrity Club so as to be further guided on the path of ethical conduct.

The Head, Enlightenment and Reorientation Unit of the Commission, Assistant Commander 11, Aisha Mohammed, reinforced the need for the students to make integrity their watchword in all they do.

“Integrity is doing what is right even when no one is watching. In order words, you must speak out whenever you see something that is wrong and rest assured that the EFCC will step in and ensure that the right thing is done,” she said.

In his response, the Vice Principal, Alhaji Adamu Sliu, expressed delight with the sensitization visit of the Commission and urged the students to marry integrity and pursuit of academic excellence in order to excel in the society. “Always remember that good character matters most,” he said.
