Governor Soludo’s ANSEC to establish Anambra State Electricity Regulatory Commission

As part of the ongoing transformation in Anambra, the Anambra State Executive Council (ANSEC) under Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo has decided at its 10th meeting to establish the Anambra State Electricity Regulatory Commission (ASERC).

According to the State’s Commissioner for Information, Law Mefor, ANSEC, in line with its functions as contained in the recently assented Anambra State Electricity Law, has put in motion the framework for the formation of ASERC and to launch a recruitment drive for subject-matter experts to join the new commission.

ANSEC at the meeting also explored how to completely restore Anambra society, reshape its moral and social structures, and establish the project as a lasting legacy of the Soludo administration.

This development stems from Governor Soludo’s vision of making infrastructure the focal point of his government and transforming the state to be the Dubai-Taiwan Silicon Valley of the country, where business and economic activities flourish.

Also, at the ANSEC meeting, the Council named the new Government House Mini-City the “Light House Awka,” in keeping with Anambra State’s slogan, “Light of the Nation.”

The Light House Awka, a 34-year-old jinx broken by Governor Soludo, with such a facility lacking after the state’s creation in 1991, comprises the newly built Government House and Lodge, the building of the Deputy Governor, the Governor’s Office, 24 other structures, a world-class amphitheatre, and an auditorium, with an eight-lane dualised road, named Emeka Anyaoku Boulevard leading to the mini-city.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who recently commissioned the Light House Awka, was overwhelmed with what he saw, saying, “Anambra is rising and we are ready to work with you.”
